In a bit of irony, this post is about the best way to write a blog post. While anyone can start a blog, not everyone can do it well. This post will be about the tips and tricks that are important to starting a blog post.

Topic

Picking a topic for a blog post is important. It should fit in with the overall theme of your blog, if you have a theme, and the topic for the blog should be something specific. A topic that is too large will make for a long or rambling blog post. However, the topic should also not be too specific or you won’t have enough to write about.

You should also try to pick a topic that interests you. Remember that while you may be writing this blog for school or work, you will have an easier time writing about something that interests you. If you don’t have much information on the topic you need to write about, try doing some more research and finding something about it that interests you. If a topic is interesting to you while writing it, it will be interesting to the reader.

Length

The length of the blog post is important as well. Blog posts are going to be read casually by people on the internet who are not looking to read something the length of a novel. Try to keep your blog under a couple thousand words. If it starts going beyond that, there’s a good chance that your reader will get bored and won’t finish the post.

Along with making sure your posts aren’t too long, it is also important to focus on the length of something people don’t often think about: paragraph length. One of the biggest tips you can take as a writer is that long paragraphs scare readers. The wall of text is difficult to get through and readers aren’t going to want to struggle through it. After your paragraph starts taking up a few lines, go to the next one.

Editing

When you write a blog post, be sure to edit it. It has been shown over and over that readers don’t trust posts with typos. Having a typo in a sales post makes people much less likely to buy a product. So if your blog post is riddled with typos, your readers aren’t going to trust the ideas you’re giving them.

How should you edit your blog post? Your first step is to set your blog post aside for a little bit. This will allow your brain a break and give you fresh eyes when you look at your post again. Then, read through your post, out loud if possible. Reading it out loud will help you hear mistakes like awkward wording or poor sentence structure. Look at your post carefully and correct any errors that you see. It may also be useful to give it to someone else, as they will be better at seeing new errors that you may be blind to.

Once all this is done, congratulations! You’re ready to post your brand new blog. Have fun creating!
